Juicing Beetroot

Juicing Beetroot
Beetroot is great for juicing as most of the goodness in them comes from raw beetroot. You don't even need to peel it, just leave the skin on and you can juice the bulb as it is. Beetroot juice has a very sweet flavour and turns your juice a vibrant red colour.

Beetroot is beneficial in cleansing the liver and blood. It is also said to reduce blood pressure, but only when raw, again, perfect for juicing, this is due to the high levels of nitrates in the beetroot, which widen the blood vessels.

The deep purple colour of beetroot is called betacyanin. It's this pigment that helps the liver turn harmful toxins into harmless substances that can then be passed.

Beetroot is great for the blood – as it helps to rebuild red blood cells, which is beneficial for iron deficiencies, like anaemia. It is also good for reducing the symptoms of PMS. Beetroot is also an excellent source of carotenoids which have strong cancer-fighting properties.
